In 2024, Galerie de la Bande Dessinée will curate the first exhibition dedicated to the original comic art by Philippe Berthet and Antonio Cossu, published in the comic book series The Merchant of Ideas.
Published in 1982, the first volume of the Merchant of Ideas was the first album ever of Philippe Berthet, but also of Antonio Cossu. The series consists of 4 albums, published in Europe by Glenat, and pre-published in Circus magazine.
These original comic art pages by Philippe Berthet and Antonio Cossu compose a superb fresco of science fiction and adventure, created by four hands. The light, supple line of Philippe Berthet and the more fractal line of Antonio Cossu combine for an astonishing fantastic spectacle, where chiaroscuro regularly appears. And on certain pages, we can detect the graphic beginnings of Berthet’s series such as The Private of Hollywood or Pin-up.
The original drawings from the series The Merchant of Ideas by Philippe Berthet and Antonio Cossu will be exclusively for sale at Galerie de la Bande Dessinée.
