First published by Epic Comics, starting in 1988, for the American edition of the Akira manga, created by mangaka Katsuhiro Otomo (大友 克洋). These color guides were subsequently used for all Western publications.
Steve Oliff was a pioneer in digital color processing. Selected by mangaka Katsuhiro Otomo to color the Akira manga for the American publication of the series, Steve Oliff created these stunning color guides with mixed technique, on printed reproductions of Katsuhiro Otomo’s original comic art.
The original Akira pages will likely never be offered for sale. And if they ever were, they would fetch record prices. These original color guides are the only creative work related to Akira that fans of this legendary manga can acquire.
