Benjamin BENETEAU

Original comic book art by French comic book artist Benjamin Beneteau.

Born in 1985 in La Roche-sur-Yon, Benjamin Beneteau spent his childhood and adolescence in Tahiti, French Polynesia. He then returned to Belgium and enrolled in the comics art section of Saint-Luc School.

In 2005, on graduation, Benjamin Beneteau fine-tuned his first comic book project which was based on the America’s Cup, with script by François Troukens. At the same time, Mathieu Reynes hired him to do the backgrounds for the sprawling and ambitious thriller Alter Ego. Then he worked with writer Denis Lapière for the first time, a collaboration he repeated a few years later.

In 2012 for the first volume of Michel Vaillant-Nouvelle Saison (Michel Vaillant-New Season), Benjamin Beneteau created the design for the new Vaillante cars and the backgrounds for this new series of adventures. After 6 albums in the series in which Marc Bourgogne drew the characters, in 2018, Benjamin took over all the drawing, backgrounds and characters, for the 7th album entitled Macao, and for which he won the Town of Andenne’s Prize. For the 8th album 13 jours (13 Days) he drew the cars and the characters with Vincent Dutreuil taking care of the storyboards and backgrounds.

Concurrently, in 2021, for publisher Le Lombard he drew an opulent biography of carmaker Louis Renault entitled Renault-les mains noires (Renault-The Black Hands) with Antoine Lapasset providing the script and color work.

The original comic book art of Benjamin Beneteau is published in the comic book series Michel Vaillant-Nouvelle saison.
